Tattoo AfterCare

How to make sure your Tattoo

heals with great results.

First 24 Hours: What to Do

1. Keep It Covered
Your tattoo artist will wrap your tattoo—leave it on for a few hours. If using a special bandage like Saniderm, follow your artist’s instructions (it may stay on for a few days).

2. Clean It Gently
Wash your hands first, then clean your tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel—don’t rub!

Days 2-14: Healing Process

1. Keep It Clean
Wash your tattoo twice a day with mild soap and water. Always have clean hands before touching it.

2. Moisturize
Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion or tattoo aftercare cream. Don’t overdo it—too much moisture can slow healing.

3. Avoid the Sun
Keep your tattoo covered when outside. Once healed, use SPF 30+ sunscreen to protect it.

4. Stay Dry
Showering is fine, but don’t soak your tattoo in water (no swimming or baths) until it’s fully healed.

Long-Term Care

1. Watch for Infection
Healing takes about two weeks, but full healing can take up to three months. If you notice redness, swelling, or pain, see a doctor.

2. Keep It Looking Fresh
Use unscented lotion and sunscreen to keep your tattoo vibrant over time.

What NOT to Do!

1. Don’t Scratch or Pick
Your tattoo may scab or itch—don’t touch! It can fade the ink or cause scarring.

2. Don’t Use Harsh Products
Avoid anything with alcohol, fragrance, or strong chemicals. Stick to mild soap and fragrance-free lotion.

3. Don’t Wear Tight Clothes
Loose clothing is best to prevent rubbing and irritation.

4. Don’t Work Out Too Hard
Excess sweat and friction can slow healing. If you exercise, clean your tattoo afterward.

By following these simple steps, your tattoo will heal beautifully and stay looking great for years to come!
